Matrix Trident ReviewThis is an unbiased review of the Matrix Trident and the Matrix Glitch II. After receiving the package via FedEx I was very excited (like a kid at Christmas). The package included 1 Matrix Trident, 1 Glitch II, and 1 programmer. I raced over to my buddies' house (XDK), cause i suck at soldering.  :P We immediately dove right in, and here are the results.

The evening began with disassembling the Xbox 360 slim as any typical glitch installation goes.
However we had previously glitched this console with a Matrix v1 CPLD glitcher. Installation agenda calls for upgrading to a Matrix v2 for simplistic reasons for use with the Matrix Trident.. You can use a Matrix v1 or any other glitch chip with the Matrix Trident, however we wanted the simplest possible use out of our Matrix Trident..

Please follow the installation notes on infinitymod.com their tutorials for both the Matrix glitcher v2 and the Matrix Trident are spot on and should be followed closely. Please note there is an update for Matrix Glitcher v2 that allows the Trident to disable the the Matrix v2 when the original nand is selected ( the onboard TSOP 360 motherboard nand )

Installation: Trident

Average Install Time: 1 hour

Installation is straight forward and you should allow about an hour for the actual hardware installation do not rush yourself. The Matrix Trident is a smooth fitting PCB board designed to go on the underside of the 360 Trinity motherboard the quick solder placement allows plenty of room for your average soldering iron with a conical tip making install that much easier.

Installation: Matrix Glitch II

Average Installation Time: 10 Min (Fresh Box 1 Hour)

On this install we had an advantage considering we already had a glitch chip installed. Since the chip comes preprogrammed there is no programming involved.

Installation of the v2 is pretty straight forward once you have dumped your nand a few times and created your ecc file with your preferred method u can begin the installation of the v2 Matrix chip. installation options are simplified with the slim/fat motherboard selection switch and the 4 dip - dip switch to choose the exact model in our case the dip switch 1 thru 3 were set to ON and dip 4 was set to off signifying "trinity/slim".

Fine Tuning:

There are 3 different settings available for this -1 0 +1 via the programmer. In my particular case 0 worked best, the others provided no real difference in glitch times. My times with this chip varied between 5-25 seconds.

Dumping and Flashing:

This part is pretty straight forward. We started with the original nand dump we had, patched it, then updated via ms. We then dumped that nand and using Rogero's 360 MultiBuilder we built an image for the nands on the Trident. flashed everything as normal. The one thing that was nice about the flashing process was that all we had to do was move the switch into the next postition to flash the next nand.

Testing and Conclusion:

Switch in right position (green light):

The position is being used for stock image. Was able to connect to Live and move around etc. Worked flawlessly. Note if you upgraded your hard drive to a non recognized MS size it will not be seen by the stock image. This is not the fault of the Trident or your chip, but a failsafe MS has in place. Suggestion is to either use a MS recognized size or have a second  hard drive for Live.

Switch in middle position (blue light):

The position is being used for the Glitch II: Booted in to FSD with no problems. Navigated around and found no problems.

Switch in left position (red light):

I am currently not using the third position, but am considering in the future either installing a second glitch or some other dash

In Conclusion:

Trident

The over all ease of installation and the simplicity of use makes the Trident a good addition to your Xbox 360. The ability to have different nands is a plus. One thing i would like to see is maybe housing for the switch on the outside box.

Matrix Glitcher II

Installation was a breeze and glitch times are average on my slim. No real complaints here.

Thanks to:

Infinity Mod for providing the hardware for the review.

XDK for providing the skills and know how. (trust me you don't want me soldering)

Rogero for Multi Builder (very awesome tool)
