Correct sequence for upgrading internal HDD while on CFW 4.30 v2.03

Hi folks,
i'm thinking about changing my HDD of my PS3 SLIM 320Gig to a 1 Terrabyte, because many Games need to install large parts of program code to the internal hdd. Now i'm not sure what is the correct sequence to do that trick.

Can somebody give me a hint if the following procedure is correct.

[I copy the "Downgrader PUP" to a USB-Stick]

[Swapping current HDD with New One]

[Turning on PS3, should give the message to let install the Downgrader]

[After installing i'm on hybrid CFW 3.55, showing ver4.21 on system information]

[Installing and running toggle_qa.pkg from XMB]

[Checking by pressing L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down while on Network Settings if QA flag was set]

[Installing ROGERO 3.55 CFW v3.7 via Recovery]

[Installing ROGERO 4.30 v2.03 via XMB]

HDD can be swapped/changed and the CFW4.30 v2.03 will re-install without any problem.

So shut down
Change hdd
Put Rogero CFW 4.30 V2.03 on USB drive

Start the PS3 and it will ask to Format and install the CFW

I have a - probably - stupid question: when I take out the old HDD from from the PS3, will windows be able to read it? I mean without formating? I was thinking to buy a hdd case and mount the disk on windows and then transfer the old games on the new PS3 hdd (by ftp). But I am not sure if windows will be able to read the old hdd....

Disk management in windows will find the PS3 hdd, but you have to format it

If you search PS3devwiki, there is a way with hdd encryption to read a ps3 hdd

You could just use Blackbox ftp.. copy the whole dev_hdd0 to USB

Then upgrade the hdd, and use ftp again to copy it back

Just to report a great thing that happened to me.
I bought a 1TB hdd to replace the 250gb from my CECH2004 which was almost full.
I said - let's see what happens if I use the "back-up/restore" function from the XMB.
I started the "back-up" and (after about 6 hours waiting) I got the message that 200GB were backed up.
Then I swapped the HDD, installed Rogero 4.30 with no problem and started the "restore" part.
After another 6 hours - BINGO - everthing was there!!! I mean everything, including Multiman, saves, game installs, PSN games!!!
The only "issue" was that it now occupies more on the HDD, something like 300Gb - probably due to the cluster size that must be bigger on the 1TB disk.
So "back-up/restore" works, you dont have to reinstall anything, just need a little patience.

Based on this thread, it sounds pretty straight forward, but I just want to post the steps I plan to take so someone can confirm they are correct.

1) I went to the Rogero thread and downloaded Rogero_CEX-4.40_v1.03.PUP and multiMAN ver 04.30.00 BASE CEX (20130324).pkg

2) Install the new hard drive and start the PS3, making sure no disk or USB drive is connected.
I assume the PS3 will take awhile to format the drive. Eventually I will see the XMB screen.

3) Rename Rogero file to USB root:PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP and install from the XMB Update menu.

4) Install the multiman package. There were CEX and DEX packages, I will use the CEX.

5) Optionally install the showtime CEX package that came in multiman zip file[/list][/list][/list][/list][/list]

Is it ok in step #2 that I let the PS3 initialize the new drive first, then put Rogero on the USB drive and install it?
Or should I insert the USB drive with Rogero before I start the PS3 with the new drive for the first time?


One final question: Does the PS3 somehow remember what firmware I was on, meaning I MUST use Rogero_CEX-4.40_v1.03.PUP? Or could I use the Rebug PUP file if I wanted to? I assume it remembers, b/c otherwise people would just buy a new hard drive to install a CFW instead of using the E3 Flasher to downgrade and install a CFW.

make sure your ps3 is not a downgraded console. with 3.55 when you buy it.
install rogero or rebug is okay. but watchout the version and tuts when install it
if you plan to upgrade or change HDD. optional step is backup your old HDD and restore it to new one .
