Help for identifying the current firmware needed

Postby spirt » Wed Jul 11, 2012 12:01 pm

Hi

Just bought a PS3 slim 120GB console for my son. The history of this console from the words of the seller the next: it was flashed with some custom 3.55 firmware and in some way it was upgraded to 3.70 custom firmware. During boot it shows a well known Rogero splashscreen. In system settings i see "3.70" firmware and MultiMan in system settings shows "3.55 SP8 | Hermes". Is it possible to identify what firmware is flashed right now?
And the next question will be: is it possible to flash back 3.55 kmeaw without E3 flasher?

Thank you in advance for your help.

PS i decided this is the right place for such question because of the Rogero boot splashcreen.

i'm not sure. and how to know it and remove this spoof?
i found a Rebug package which allows to deactive/deinstall spoof but it didn't found any spoofs. i think it's because there is no Rebug spoofs in the system.

i still need to learn a lot about PS3 hacking after a well know Nintendo Wii.

You are on Rogero CFW 3.55, and there's no need for you to do anything...you're set.

thanks
so, if i understood it correctly, now i can safely upgrade to Rogero v3.4 with 4.21 spoof, or flash back stock 3.55 MFW or 3.55 kmeaw.
i'm not a flash maniac, i just want to learn more and to know want i can get from my console.

Yes, update to Rogero v3.4 with 4.21 spoof, basically you're on Rogero's version of 3.55, you will not get anything better by using Kmeaw, it's an older CFW and Rogero's already has spoofs and patched LV2 and peek and poke...all the stuff needed is there.

The spoof is to prevent accidental firmware updates to OFW which will render your PS3 useless to homebrew and game back-ups.
3.55 is the highest firmware you can have that allows signed code to execute.

all the info on Rogero's CFW and Manager are here:

Now all you need is some good Homebrew...I recomend *cough* Solar.

LOL..lil plug. ;P

and ask-away man, that's the reason for Tortuga-Cove... to help.

thank you for your help
it seems everything is clear for me now except one moment: possibility to safely flash stock 3.55 over the current version or Rogero v3.4.
i'm not going to do this but (i think i'll try v3.4), just want to know if it is possible?
i keep in mind Cobra dongle and their firmware and thinking about to try because of network shares capabilities. i own a Linux based NAS and that will be great to play Videos and start game backups directly from server.

Yes, you can do all of that, you can easily revert to OFW3.55 aswell, and I recomend you use *cough* Condor Updater.
