Postby joshm101 » Wed Aug 08, 2012 4:50 am

I have a ps3 and the software on it is 3.3 software..

I dont want to explore too much because i dont want to ruin the software or the cobra usb device.

Hi

which instructions do you want?
software? do you mean the firmware installed on the ps3 is 3.30? and you want to use cobra?

download the official 3.55 Ps3 Firmware (here: http://ps3devwiki.com)
install it following numerous guides on the web
(basically put it on a pen drive on the following path PS3/UPDATE/ (update goes here))
after it install cobra's custom firmware available on their site, or use google to find it.
(install it using the same method for the official firmware)
insert the cobra dongle and play your games.

please be more specific next time, and provide more information.

It is normal for the backup manager mmCM if your using or any to take you back to XMB. Your game should then be showing in the Disc Icon.

A lot of games require you have a disc in the PS3 to play.

As for the error, I can give more help if I know the error number and Game Title, Thanks

You can also check the Game Compatibility list

If the game list is not showing your game, I can link to another Game Compatibility list.

Also in the notes section of the game compatability notes.

It says "[Split_Game] (Backups that CAN NOT run from EXT HDD directly due to FAT32's 4GB+ file size limitations)."

I have a 1 TB HDD thats FAT32. Does it mean i cant back them up to my ext hdd, and in need of an internal HDD ??

sorry if a sound stupid im just learning.

quick correction here: if using the CobraUSB dongle NO "I repeat NO" disc is required in the drive & always start the game from the disc icon there is no need for any game to be started from "app_home/PS3_GAME" (as to why I didn't include it in NFW-CobraUSB)

There are many games that require you to change the EBOOT.bin

You will have to google that specific game eboot fix. Or you updated the game and it won't start, then just go to GAME DATA on XMB and delete the data.

With Cobra, you can use genps3iso_v2.0 to create ISO and place that in PS3ISO folder on USB

Iso files bigger than 4GB can be split on external disks using the following naming convention:
filename.iso -> filename.iso.0, filename.iso.1, filename.iso.2, etc.
Each part must have a size between 4,096 and 4,294,967,295 bytes, although the recommended size for
each part except the last is 4,294,901,760 bytes. Maximum number of parts allowed is 32.

Also some games just psarc tool to extract psarc files and then the game can be placed on USB in normal JB fashion.

Or if you want the game on internal hdd, but using external to copy it there. YOu can use Deank's split4g which is in the mmCM folder you download to your computer.
Or there is OpenSplit and PS3 file splitter I believe.

Thanks bitsbubba

I always forget that as I use other CFW as well. I just always have disc in and don't care
