Ok you can't copy Games using the XMB's Video TAB

Is the USB device FAT32 because it needs to be.

And yes mmCM and Cobra read games from both.

I would guess you game is not in /dev_hdd0/GAMES, so yes use the Filemanager to check on that.

As for the 3 questions asking you too say Yes, make sure you use the left diagonal pad to YES, then press X each time.

You should then be in the multiman main menu.

Ok I realized I had the update but the MM itself, so I installed that and it works now, but...the journey is not over!

I managed to transfer my game from the external HDD (yes it's in FAT32) to the internal HDD into the games directory, but when I used MM to run it, it does the blinking black screen thing and returns me to the main XMB menu again. The game trailer plays when I select it, but when I select it from MM or the XMB, it dumps me back to XMB main menu.

Also, I can use MM to run games from the external HDD unless they are over 4GB right?

There are also 3 icons at the bottom of the MM screen...the left one is my internal HDD, the middle is my external HDD, but what is the right one? It also says HDD...

Sorry for the deluge of questions, but I think I'm almost there! :)

Ok well glad you got the actual mmCM. After you choose a GAME to play in mmCM, it will take you back to XMB. You then launch the game by clicking on the DISC ICON

A lot of games do require you too have a disc inserted into the PS3. We have a compatibility list here you can check - viewtopic.php?f=71&t=519

Cobra has a tool called genps3iso_v2.0, and it will create an ISO image for files over 4gb, and then multiman will read those and play them.
Iso files bigger than 4GB can be split on external disks using the following naming convention:
filename.iso -> filename.iso.0, filename.iso.1, filename.iso.2, etc.

The ISO's are then placed in a folder called PS3ISO, either on external or internal.

Also there are methods using psarc, to also extract psarc files so the game can them be played on External. For example Uncharted 3, Killzone 3

I haven't paid too much attention to bottom of my screen in mmCM. I would think its internal, exteranl and Blu Ray Drive. But I will have to look lol.

Don't feel bad at all for asking questions. It is the only way too learn. :D

Yes, that is what I did, I ran the game disc icon from the XMB menu. But maybe it's because I didn't have bdemu.pkg installed? I have 3 of them that came with the MM files...BDEMU-355WT.pkg, BDEMU-355KM.pkg, and BDEMU2-355.pkg. Does it matter which one I use?

OK I'll try it with a PS3 disc in the drive, didn't think about that. It doesn't need to be particular PS3 disc right? (Like before 3.55?)

So that's what the PS3ISO folder is for...I think I'll just run the games that don't run externally on the internal HDD, I have some space there.

I think the third icon is just a disc partition for apps and stuff. It's pretty small.

Thanks for being so patient and helping me out with all this. I really appreciate it! ^_^

Nope it don't matter what PS3 disc you use.

Which version of mmCM did you install. You don't need BDEMU.pkg at all with Cobra USB dongle.

This is the proper one - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2809

You can then update mmCM from its Main Menu under the first TAB

And your quite welcome. We are glad to help. And Welcome to the Forums as well. :D

Ok I tried it with a PS3 disc, but I still got the same problem :(

I'm quite sure I installed the correct MM version this time. Should I reinstall it again?

Yeah you can reinstall, or let mmCM update to 4.02.04. It will download the update, then exit to XMB where you can then install from INSTALL PKGS

My Godfather 2 game has two disc icons. The Main game and Game Trailers. So for games like that, make sure you it shows your GAME Title in XMB Disc Icon and click X on that.

What game is it? Some games have further fixes they need.

Alright, I reinstalled both the MM full and the update, same problem. I've tried it on a variety of games as well, (Bladestorm, Catherine, Saint Seiya) with a PS3 disc in the drive. I didn't see a "reinstall" button so I just installed it again (I got a message "this is already installed" and pressed yes)

Could it be because I also installed bdRESET.pkg and lastgame2.pkg? I installed those with MM because I thought it would make navigating easier...how do I uninstall them if they are causing a problem? Or maybe MM just doesn't like my system...

I also tried Cobra USB Manager, and for some reason, it works! Must be some problem with MM...will Cobra USB Manager be supported? Maybe I can just use that instead.

Another minor issue - I was trying to transfer a game from my PC to the external HDD (Nier Replicant) and the process stopped because it had a file larger than 4 Gb. How can I transfer the file? Do I need to use an external program?

Yes installing bdRESET and lastgame2 pkgs may have caused an issue. Hard to say. Did you install the ones for Cobra FW.
They say this bdRESET [COBRA FW].pkg and lastGAME2 [COBRA FW].pkg
This is the best guide going on multiman. May help you out to understand the features.

Code: Select all
http://gbatemp.net/topic/291170-multiman-beginners-guide/#chap3.lastgame

You could just delete Multiman. Then reboot the PS3. Then install the Full again and the update.

This time ignore the two packages and see if things work.

Also yes if Cobra USB manager is working for you, you can use it as well. As I said it is just not being updated anymore. But it works for most games.
I still have it as well on my PS3.

As for the over 4gb onto External. YOu can create multiple ISO image using genps3iso_v2.0. Then place those files in PS3ISO folder on External drive.

Another option is in the multiman download , there is a folder called 'apps_pc' with a program called 'Split4g' and it will split the files.
