Trident - Not powering

Postby LoR_NiKoN » Thu Mar 08, 2012 12:47 pm

Hi,

Anyone around here installed on of these yet?

Ive just installed mine in my Trinity console and the board seems dead. I have triple checked all the solder joints and they are fine but the board does not seem to be getting any power as the switch board is not lighting up.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Regards

Hi,

I have uploaded a bunch of photos to totalxb.com/trident/solder.zip

I have revisited the soldering around the GND and 3.3 on the trident so they are a more uniform joint onto the points. the issue is its just not getting any power. would you think it would course harm if i tried getting the 3.3 from another point (namely the 3.3 off the nand-x QSB for example) for the board just to test.

I even went back round (before taking the pics) to add extra solder to the pads to make sure it was making a good connection on the board.

The switch isnt lighting up at all, stock nand boots fine.

I have emailed Infinitymod for help but as yet no reply.

Thanks for your help.......

From your pictures you posted it appears to me you have the trident hooked up properly , you do have a few cold solder joints but without getting my hands on the system i cannot say for sure how I can assist you further. does the system power on at all and was this a full glitch install IE first time glitching the system ect.. ?

if u jacked up stdby clk it would cause the entire system to not get power.

Hi,

The system booted fine... Ive removed the board now as it wasnt working. worst thing is i cant even return it now as my cat got hold of the Glitch cable and chewed it.....

Im just going to leave it now i cant be bothered... My first Matrix product and i have to say i wasnt impressed... Install was easier than expected but the fact the board is dead i just cant be bothered.

As for the soldering i know the GND and 3.3 were not great in those pics but i did revisit them and from trying to desolder the other points had a good connection to the points on the mobo as they were a pain to desolder.

To top it off i messed up the desolder anyways so im not planning on retrying in this console.

Thanks to all those who game some input to the problem.

I just ordered 4 matrix tridents...

1 is installed now and I'm getting the same problem with it not getting any power.. I'll take pictures of my install and then de-solder and install another.

so far I'm not impressed by matrix products..

yep! the 1st Trident I installed was a dead board!

while I was removing the trident I accidentally lifted one of the pads, luckily I figured out it lead back to pin 8 on the NAND and soldered a wire to the NAND leg instead. pics are included in the album

pics of the 1st install, my southbridge & pin 8 fix. everything is up and running now with no problem with a second trident.
hopefully I can send the dead one back and get a refund..

I think I'll be sticking to xecuter products from now on, I just wish they didn't take forever to release the demon.
