New PSx Cover Art Feature for mmCM

Postby datalogger » Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:52 am

OK, I read that this new MultiMAN Cobra Manager includes 2000+ cover art graphics for PSx titles and follows the OPL v0.8 PS2 format rules for filenames.

My notes from my working PS2 OPL.8 setup say the ISO naming convention is:
SLUS_123.45.Game Name Here.iso

I look in the /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/covers_retro/psx
folder and see that SLUS_210.50_COV.JPG is there for my Burnout 3 game.

I rename the Burnout 3 ISO to read as /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/SLUS_210.50.Burnout 3.iso

I launch mmCM, rescan the drives but still no Cover Art for Burnout 3.

What am I missing here?

try renaming cover same as game SLUS_210.50.Burnout 3.jpg and placing it in same directory as iso (same as retro roms for emulators)
NOTE:make sure extensions are lowercase!!

But the included covers are used only when real PS2 (backup/original) disk is inserted, not used for iso at the moment

Disk...Disk...I remember those things from last millennium, round flat shiny thing with a hole in it, right?

Thanks for the answer there, bitsbubba

I do hope they look into removing that restriction.
I mean, even the Xbox360 doesn't need them anymore...

I did use 'at the moment" so hopefully yes (only time will tell)

Awesome, can't believe within 24hours these guys have actually got this request in place already! How can we add the covers though? All my iso/bin+cue files are showing up the same as before, can I download them or will I have to manually put covers in certain folders? Do I have to rename my files to that of the covers? Thanks guys.

Usually the first time the RETRO column is scanned, mmCM will try to extract/find/download the covers... if it succeeds you will see them next time the RETRO column is refreshed.
There are no PSX covers included and only 2020 PS2 covers, so it is possible that the cover is not present in the installation. The covers go in /usrdir/covers_retro/psx so make sure they are in there.

e.g: ABCD_123.45_COV.JPG

PSP ISO's will show covers/ICON0.PNG immediately (well after the column background scan completes) and you can add your covers or just put a .jpg file named like the ISO in the same folder where the ISO file is ;)

Thanks for the reply man! I have tried quite a few things and weird things have been happening such as a few select titles like MGS2, Silent Hill 4: The Room have been getting covers to show and this is along with the fact that the jpg's seem to have transfered themselves to my PS2 ISO folder and renamed themselves for example: "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PAL).jpg". However, when I go to do this manually and rename one of the covers that is already in the retro_covers/psx folder to the same thing as my iso and place that jpg in my PS2 iso folder, it doesn't seem to do anything even after I restart/scan/refresh mmCM.

Cheers for any help!

Update: I deleted the jpg files that were randomly appearing within my PS2 ISO dir and named all the covers the exact same thing as my iso's with all lower caps. ALL my covers work now and they look great, thanks for all the help guys!

Just one mini request though: as good as it looks, I feel this could be improved even more if were given the ability to have higher-res covers for PSX/PS2/PSP game selection on par with that of selecting PS3 games via their covers. All in all though a great update once again, keep up the good work guys!
