Ok I have 2 JR Programmers so its easy for me to determine if I am doing something wrong or if the fault is with the JR Programmer. Ok now to what I see is weird.
lets call the JR Programmers A and B. Ok
A - when connected to the 360 the green led will blink and if not I hit the reset button a few times until it begins to blink. Once the green LED starts to blink I connect it to the USB on the PC and windows will recognize it right away and I can read/write the nand with no issues.
B - Green LED will not blink no matter what I do it just stays solid so I connect it to the USB on the PC and hit reset on the JR Programmer until Windows recognizes it properly and I can then read/write the nand .
When I have compared A and B I have used the same 360 with the same wired install the only thing different through out is the programmer being used. So does anyone know what could be the cause of the difference in the programmers?
Thanks
I figured I was clear about my issue and only expected a simple reply of one being defective and giving a possible fix for it. About a day after I made the post I got this reply from BraveH43
you could always try reprogramming the fw on them!
the .hex file is in the folders in J-Runner
Well I gave updating the firmware on both JR Programmers a try and it solved nothing, I was still experiencing the same issues, so I began to wait for a reply. Well it has been over two weeks and not another reply, so I take that as a refusal to support their product. They could have said JR Programmer B was defective and should be returned for a replacement, but me waiting for a reply has most likely exceeded the time I would have had to return the programmer to where it was purchased from so now I am stuck with a defective product. It is my opinion that they refused to reply because it would have made them admit that everything is not the users fault and their products may be defective. Seeing as I have two JR Programmers and one is defective and one works perfectly then the odds of a person buying a defective programmer are just as good as buying one that works correctly.
If you remember back to when the JR Programmer was announced they stated that the speeds were 80% of what the Nand-X sppeds are and that most other programmers were 50% the sppeds of the Nand-X, well when they announced the JR Programmer v2 they said the speeds stated for the JR Programmer v1 was an error and that they are 50% of the speeds of the Nand-X. I do not understand how a company can error like that when comparing two products that they manufacture, so in my opinion they exaggerated the speeds of the v1 to make it appear to get better speeds then what it actually did so that it appeared better then their rivals products.
Speaking of their competitors Squirt360 , x360pro , and Matrix have all had enough faith in their products to send samples out for review. TX on the other hand only uses "their people" to test and review their products. I have already seen that you can not trust what TX states about their products because I have seen a few times where they state that something is better then what it actually is. In my opinion TX will not give samples out because that prevents any one from disputing what they say their products can do. Lets be honest who is really gonna buy 2 programmers to test and see which is better, they normally buy the one they think is better. Well I have 3, thats 2 JR Programmers and one made by kipper2k on xbox-scene.com this is the one from him I havehttp://www.kipper2k.com/usbflash.html. When I compared the speeds I used J Runner and the speeds were nearly the same so TX should not really talk down about the speeds for any of the competitors products when there product has the same speeds of a device that I could have built myself for a fraction of what theirs cost.
In my opinion and a few others may agree with me TX products and "support" forums should be avoided when trying to decide what to buy since its is clear they will out right lie to make their products seem better then what they are. They will never admit that any product of theirs is defective and will try and put it off as the customers fault. My suggestion is that if you are getting ready to make a purchase, is to shop around and read real reviews before you buy into what TX is telling you their products will do.
Here is a few nice quote I have seen come from TX support
from Ubergeek
yes of course
you guys need to remember one thing
if the xbox doesn't boot after you have installed the demon - your soldering is shitty and needs to be fixed.
that's it really
Please do not take this post as an statement that their site should be totally avoided, because it is not, there is a lot of great info there and some really great people that are extremely helpful. This topic is a reflection of my feelings on how TX deals with supporting their products.
