[LOCKED]Multi region DVD Fail

Hi There!

I Just got the Cobra USB and i must say it looks like a wonderful product, saddly I cant for the life of me get the multiregion DVD playback to work? (The key reason I purchased this product).

DVD regions I have tried are Region 1 and Region 4. (I have hardcoded these regions in the cobra usb manager using R1) Errors are as follows:

With Region 1 DVD's I receive the following error: This disc cannot be played. The region code is not correct.
With Region 4 DVD's I receive the following error: Video in the PAL broadcast standard is not supported.

My Hardware / Versions is as follows:

I am using a Japanese PS3 60GB with the emotion engine.
Cobra CFW 3.55
Cobra USB 3.3
Cobra USB Manager 3.2

Please let me know if I am missing somthing? I followed though and did everything! I even re-initialized the firmware once again from recovery mode. . .Tried playing from within cobra usb manager and also from the XMB to the DVD icon, pressing triangle and "Play from Beginning" I am completly fustrated. . . Has anyone else had this problem? ? ?

Hey Haji ,welcome to the site. I havent seen anyone else mention this but that doesnt mean you are the only one to experience this problem.
I'v passed this onto the team and they are looking into it so as soon as I hear something back I'll get back to you.

Yep i get this too. Disc cannot be played on my PAL Phat 60gb model using The Karate Kid Ntsc region 1 DVD.

Multi Region DVD doesnt work at all.

Maybe it will be fixed in future updates.

This is truly a misfortune. . .

Maybe I should roll back to an older firmware and Cobra version that worked. . .

Does anyone have any links to the older versions? ? ? I would like to just make it work! ! !

Hi There!

As I am completely frustrated with the device not working for DVD's I decided to try my luck with Blu-ray's and guess what? No Dice! ! !

With Region B Blu-ray's the disc loads slightly and then halts (video does not play, Black screen). I don't have any Region C to test with and A works (native region for Japanese PS3).

My Hardware / Versions is as follows:

Thanks for the update, thats cool that both threads are merged.

Just a thought, maybe change the title of this thread to: "Multi region DVD/Blu-Ray Fail".

Looking forward to somthing from the Cobra Team, hope it doesn't fall on deaf ears.

I received a reply from the Cobra Team that is less than impressive:

"Currently our team working on many upgrade for the next coming 4.0 Cobra firmware and we don't have any news concerning the progress about your dvd issue ... "

I am guessing they are going to place DVD’s and Blu-rays for Japanese PS3's in the too hard pile. . .

This is a very sad day indeed! ! !
