    Cobra CFW 4.30 related Thread

    Postby alienkid » Tue Jan 22, 2013 6:38 pm

I thought I'll start a new thread for all who's having issues or notice some things that wasn't apparent with Cobra 3.55. Hopefully we can learn together and resolve some of the issues together (at least the issues we can resolve without Cobra intervening. So, here's my 1st impressions:

    System Info:
    Model: CECHA01
Update Method: Via PC for dongle
In recovery mode from 3.55 Cobra CFW to Cobra CFW 4.30

I've been messing around with it and noticed a few things that hopefully they can fix:

    1) When on the XMB and you press [ ] buitton (square) to sort your games and what not, it doesn't stay that way after returning from a game. I hope they work that out.
    2) I don't know if they need to update mmCM or what but when in mM, (currently I've updated to multiMAN ver 04.18.00 FULL CEX (20130106) then directly to multiMAN ver 04.18.04 UPD CEX (20130115) from 04.06.02) and trying to sort the "Retro" column kicked me back out to the XMB. It could be because I have the 3.55 versions of SNES FCEU etc and haven't updated those yet but I wanted to put that out there.

    3) When in mM and I go to system version, it still shows 3.55. The Cobra Dongle version shows 6.0. It's not a big deal cause I tried a couple of games like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, games I knew didn't work on 3.55, and they work as they should so I know its updated.
    4) I can't turn on the PS3 via the controller....only by pressing the power button on the PS3

This is just a quick synopsis after messing around with it.

Hopefully Cobra will read this and look into it for the next update.

    ***EDIT***
My issue #2 from above has been resolved by updating the emulators. I don't use RetroArch so if anyone was looking for the standalone 4.xx emu's I got them from the link below courtesy of LoboGuara's Thread @ HAX:

Can the cobra 4.30cfw be installed over rebug 4.21.1, 4.21.2, or rogro's cfw's?

That's a good question. I really don't know since it was just released today and you need the dongle (of course) for it to work.
I updated from Cobra 3.55 to Cobra 4.30.

Hey guys, how do you update cobra properly?
On 3.55 update dongle to v6, then install 4.3 or first install 4.3 and then update dongle?
Does it matter in what order to update?

I updated the dongle first then the CFW. It doesn't really matter.

If you've updated the dongle on your PC before just drop the .cba file on cobraflash.exe as described here:

Controller can turn on ps3, but won't sync properly after it starts.

Same here - controller won't sync if used to power on the PS3 (CECHA01).

Also it's pretty irritating that my XMB icons won't stay grouped by Album like they did on 3.55. Have to push Square twice every time to change sort method back to Album.

So far these are the main issues I've noticed. Hopefully Cobra team will realize they missed some small bugs and get them ironed out.

I still really appreciate this release and can only hope Cobra continues to push out amazing updates like this one!!

BTW I just finishing installing Ni No Kuni to USB HDD. I've been waiting to play this one for so long and with the release of the game and this CFW update being nearly simultaneous I'm a pretty happy boy. Well I will be if the game works properly anyways. Wish me luck :)

    hi

i'm having controller issues as well. also console froze when exiting from mvc2 the import ps2 cd-rom. however, i noticed the problem i had before with certain psp games not working after swapping internal hdds has been resolved with this update since i was able to play ff type 0.

i know it says that region free ps1/2 might need improvement, but mine work just fine. another century's episode 2, virtual on marz, mvc2(minus the freeze when exiting), king of fighters neowave...if these all work i think it's safe to say most everything is how it was

also the dynarec isn't included because my yabause runs slow when trying to play shining force 3 8-)

i'm satisfied with the update, money well spent
    am I a Tortuga-tard for posting here?????
